About the WOMEN IN SECURITY AWARDS

Una Riley, Patron of the Women in Security Awards, was the first woman to have launched a systems security company in 1985. The security industry was different then and these Awards are a testimony to the changes that have taken place over the years.

Unlike any other awards of its kind, the Professional Security Magazine Women in Security Awards are supported by all the major industry professional organisations in the private security sector: Association of Security Consultants, ASIS International UK Chapter, British Security Industry Association (BSIA), Fire & Security Association (FSA), International Professional Security Association (IPSA), National Security Inspectorate (NSI), Security Institute, Security Industry Authority (SIA), Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) and Worshipful Company of Security Professionals. Each of the organisations has a representative judge taken from their chairs and chief execs and upon their turn, support the Awards each year (2021 being the SIA).

The Professional Security Magazine Women in Security Awards are presented in five categories: BUSINESS MANAGER, CONTRIBUTION TO INDUSTRY, SECURITY MANAGER, TECHNICAL and FRONTLINE. The nominations are based on two questions: How does the Nominee contribute to the wider world of security/profession/industry over and above her job specification? and Why, in your opinion, should the Nominee win the award? The response is inspirational and the quality of nominations makes it difficult for the judges. The Professional Security Magazine Women in Security Awards are something for the security profession to be proud of.
